Your spiritual journey to the sacred Kedarnath Temple begins with an early morning departure from Haridwar or Rishikesh. This picturesque drive towards Sonprayag or Rampur offers travelers stunning views of the Garhwal Himalayas and sacred river valleys.
During the journey, you will travel alongside the holy Ganga River, Alaknanda River, and Mandakini River, making the route both spiritually significant and visually breathtaking. The drive passes through important pilgrimage towns such as Devprayag, the sacred confluence where the Ganga originates, and Rudraprayag, known for its meeting point of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers.
You will also pass through Guptkashi, a historic town associated with Lord Shiva and an important stop during the Kedarnath Yatra.
By afternoon, you will arrive at Sonprayag or Rampur and check in to your hotel or guesthouse. The evening is free for relaxation and acclimatization to the mountain altitude before beginning the sacred trek to Kedarnath.
Pilgrims can explore the nearby surroundings, enjoy the peaceful Himalayan environment, and prepare for the upcoming trek from Gaurikund to the holy shrine of Kedarnath Temple.
Overnight Stay: Rampur / Sonprayag
Begin the second day of your spiritual journey with an early morning start after breakfast. From Gaurikund, pilgrims begin the sacred 16 km trek to the holy Kedarnath Temple, one of the most revered shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and an important part of the Char Dham Yatra.
The trekking route passes through stunning Himalayan landscapes, lush forests, waterfalls, and breathtaking views of snow-covered peaks. Throughout the journey, pilgrims walk alongside the sacred Mandakini River, which adds to the spiritual atmosphere of the Kedarnath pilgrimage. The trek generally takes around 6–8 hours, depending on pace and weather conditions.
Pilgrims who prefer not to trek can also choose options such as pony, palki, or helicopter services available from nearby locations like Phata.
By afternoon or evening, reach the divine town of Kedarnath and check in at your camp or guest house near the temple area. In the evening, attend the sacred aarti ceremony at Kedarnath Temple, a deeply spiritual experience surrounded by the majestic Himalayan peaks.
After the aarti, return to your accommodation and rest for the night in preparation for the next day’s journey.

Start your day with the divine blessings of Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Devotees can attend the early morning darshan at the temple and experience the peaceful spiritual atmosphere of Kedarnath surrounded by the majestic Himalayan peaks.
After darshan, return to your accommodation for breakfast. Later, begin the 16 km downhill trek from Kedarnath to Gaurikund. The trek offers scenic views of the mountains, waterfalls, and the sacred Mandakini River flowing alongside the trekking route.
Upon reaching Gaurikund, continue the drive towards Sonprayag or Rampur. Check in at the hotel or guest house and relax after the long trekking journey.

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Sonprayag or Rampur and begin the return journey towards Haridwar. This scenic drive once again takes you through the beautiful Himalayan valleys and sacred pilgrimage towns of Uttarakhand.
On the way, pass through Rudraprayag and the holy confluence at Devprayag, where the Alaknanda River and Bhagirathi River meet to form the sacred Ganga River. Continue the journey via Rishikesh, a renowned spiritual town known as the gateway to the Himalayas.
By afternoon or evening, arrive at Haridwar, where your sacred Kedarnath Yatra concludes. You will be dropped at the railway station, bus stand, or your preferred location for onward journey.
This marks the end of a spiritually enriching pilgrimage filled with divine blessings and unforgettable Himalayan experiences.
